Glen Smakula is an interdisciplinary artist working primarily through animation, puppetry, storytelling and music. Hailing from Elkins, West Virginia, he was raised on a steady diet of homemade bread, old-time music, and eavesdropping on his neighbors in place of television. His work explores corridors, intersections, and awkward collisions of storytelling, mobility, physicality, and environmentalism. He has displayed work in juried showcases at the Maryland Institute College of Art. He also performs in local puppet slams and burlesque shows whenever the opportunities arise.
